Tadhg TV highlights for week starting 24/01/2015

Saturday 23rd January 2015

The Voice UK - BBC 1   7.00 pm
It's like the Voice of Ireland but the judges are credible.

Sunday

Mr. Selfridge - UTV 9 PM
Drama based on how  one of London's top department store began.

Monday

Gotham - RTE 2 9pm
Now this is the highlight of the week. So a young boy's parents are shot and Detective Gordon  is  determined  to catch the killer. The only thing is the kid grows up to be Batman add into the mix a young Cat Woman, a young riddler, a young poison ivy and the scene stealing young penguin and you have one of the best shows on TV.

Tuesday

Mike and Molly - Comedy Central 9.30
One of the biggest comedys on TV the star of the show is Melissa McCarthy

Wednesday

Wolf Hall -  BBC 2  9.00
Its about about the court of Henry the V111 and its well done  with a good cast

Thursday

Brooklyn Nine Nine - E4  9pm
This is a comedy based on the misadventures of the NYPD  and its good fun staring Andy Samberg  and Terry Crews

Friday

The Last Leg - Channel 4  10 pm
This is the best comedy panel show on tv and it is live
Friday and Nick Clegg  is  going to be on it and these boys are well able for him.

Now you might have noticed that  I have avoided a certain show on RTE on a Friday because to be honest I have nothing to say about it. I am always washing what's left of my hair when it is on. :-)

SOAPS

Eastenders

...or should I say the Carter Family Show
Great acting in the east end this week - they are priming up for the big live week next week.

Coronation Street

This was the week of the big bus crash and I was not the one who drove out in front of it despite the rumours.

Fair City

So  Mondo  sent back  Kerry Ann's engagement ring he brought back from the Pawn Shop.  I recommend Kerry Ann pawn the ring and get  some elocution lessons for herself.

Million Euro Challenge : The Voice of Ireland : Family Guy : Extant 9 : The Restaurant : Operation Transformation : The Musketeers

TV fans here are my TV highlights for week starting the 17/01

Saturday 17/01

Million Euro Challenge  8.20 RTE 1
This  is the all shiny and improved (well in RTE eyes anyway) new Saturday night Lotto show hosted by RTE with great white hope Nicky Byrne. The aim of the game is get to the final for a chance to win the €million but its very obvious to me that the aim is to give away as little money as possible!!

Sunday 18/01

The Voice of Ireland 18.30 RTE 1
Its not a bad show. The blind  auditions are when the judges can't see the acts and its based solely on the voice. Looking some of the acts getting through the stage, it should be renamed "The blind and slightly deaf auditions."

Monday  19/01

Family Guy  11pm 3e
All new family guy which follows the misadventures of Peter Griffin (no relation) and his family and friends

Tuesday 20/01

Extant 9  Sci-Fi
An astronaut comes home after a year in space ... oh and Halle Berry is the star!!

Wednesday 21/01

The Restaurant  9  TV3
This is where a celebrity cooks a meal and is judged. You wont see me on it owing to the fact I burn water :-)

Thursday 22/01 8.30pm RTE 1

Operation Transformation
I am very impressed with the contestants - they are all giving it 100%. I reckon it would take Harry Potter to transform me at this stage....

Friday 23/01  The Musketeers 9pm BBC 1

It provides a contemporary take on the classic story and of course it works very well.

SOAPS

Fair City

So this week Pete's son returned and remember the son was assume dead. Pete's reply "howya!" says it all really.

Eastenders

Well things are reaching a climax in the who killed Lucy storyline. Apparently there were not many characters returning during the anniversary. They are going to have to rename it "east and west enders"

Coronation Street

So Micheal played by the legend that is Mr Les Dennis had a heart attack but to be fair I would have a heart attack if I just agreed to marry Gail Plat

Red Rock

Well this is TV3's new soap and there is a mother figure on it that makes Carol Meehan from Fair City looks like mother Teresa.
Finally a big congratulations to Boyle native Paul Young on his Oscar Nomination.

Tadhg TV highlights for week starting 10/01

Saturday: Stars in your Eyes ITV 7 pm

The legend that is  Harry Hill is back on TV taking over presenting the show where contestants impersonate music stars.

Sunday:  Charlie 9.30 RTE 1

You all know what this is about.  A lot of people were complaining about elements of the show but the main question "Is everyone going to watch it again?" I bet that answer is a definitive yes!

Monday: Broadchurch  10pm TV3

One of the best shows on TV is back  the main focus is the trial of Joe Miller and the reopening of the Sandbrook case. The main star  is David Tennant who of course played "Doctor Who"

Tuesday: the 100 10pm E4

This is like a cross between Beverly hills 90210 and the hunger games. it works very well.

Wednesday: Red Rock  8.30 TV3

This is TV3's great white hope as everything else after 7 o'clock on a weekday evening seems to be a repeat. I reckon its the only town in ireland where there was more guards then actual people living in the town

Thursday: The  Big  Bang Theory  E4 from 8.30

The Big Bang is one of the best comedy shows on TV at the moment and its the only comedy show on TV in which the girlfriends who are traditionally secondary characters are as funny as the main characters. Sheldon is  on a millon dollars an episode but in my humble opinion is worth every knock knock knock penny

Friday:  Benidorm  9 ITV

Another episode of sun, sand and silliness. The best British comedy on TV at the moment and Johnny Vegas is back this year as well.

SOAPS

Fair City

What I cannot understand in Fair City this week is how is Paul Brennan such a player?
Eastenders. The whole Lucy Beale storyline  will  be resolved next month.  The one thing I noticed when every phone was ringing on New Years Day is that all the phones were nearly as old as myself.

Coronation Street

Did the introduction of Les Dennis help improve the show ... our survey said ah ahhh
Emmerdale. Is it improving but it just has not  been the same for me since my hero Shadrach Dingle was killed off.

That's it for this week

Just to say the big Boyle Celtic match is on  at 2 pm Sunday 11th. Call down and support the lads  if you can at all. If ya like what you see give the Tadhg TV Facebook page a like!

Happy viewing
